DOG RIDGE THE PUP SAUVIGNON BLANC 2008

 - McLaren Vale, SA
 - $12-$20
 - Screwcap
 - 12.0%alc

Time and time again I'm disappointed by the large amount of wineries in places like McLaren Vale, Clare and the Barossa Valley producing poorly defined sauvignon blanc. At best these wines generally equate to cheap, easy sales rather than quality wine.

Very light in aroma and not revealing much character, the 2008 Dog Ridge presents a nose of watered down, thinly varietal gooseberry fruits, which leads into a palate truly lacking in flavour. Poorly defined, its palate barely indicates a grape of origin before ending awkwardly, much like a cask dry white would.

It's relatively inoffensive and clean but shows little in the way of interest. Drink now (or preferably last summer).
